I' m A Grandmother.... again

On Wednesday, Felicia went in for a routine ultra sound and was told that her amniotic fluid was so low that she needed to go straight to the hospital. She had Lexia with her. They both went. She was admitted. Tim left work in time to go pick up Felisia at school, go by the house and quickly gather up some things she would need, then joined her at the hospital. Felicia's mom came and got the girls later.

Felicia was given something that was to aid her effacement and told that they would give her pitocin at 1AM to induce labor.

At 1 AM the doctor came in and broke her water. He expected it to take about 12 hours for the baby to come. At around six AM they did something else. Maybe that's when they started the pitocin. I can't remember, but whatever it was, it speeded her dilation process up rapidly (She said she went from 7 to 9 in one minute. Tim had told me previously that she had gone from being dilated 4 to 10 in 30 minutes.)

Anyway, the excitement began because the nurses had not been able to get the doctor back to the hospital. When Daxton would wait no longer before making his entry into the world, a nurse stepped into the hallway and "grabbed" a doctor there and had him come in and deliver. Felicia's doctor arrived minutes later. He had a very surprised look on his face while the doctor who had to make the delivery was looking very annoyed. He had already expressed his feelings about a doctor starting the process and then leaving the scene.

Randy Daxton Blaze Nordstrom was born at 6:22AM on Veteran's Day, his mother's birthday. He was "due" on December 11. He is healthy is all other ways, but his lung development was immature and he was put in NICU where 'they' say he may be for two weeks. He is being given oxygen to aid him with his breathing.

He can't be held yet which made his mama cry.  She wants to hold her baby.   But she told me last night that she may get to hold him in two or three days.
