A Fact that Escaped Me

I've read (and heard read) about David for YEARS, still this morning in my Bible reading is the first that I remember actually noticing this fact:

David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

Having just finished all of the first book of Samuel and starting into the second (This is in chapter 5.), it seems quite amazing to me that all that David went through BEFORE he became king happened before he was 30 years old.

The slaying of the lion and the bear while he was keeping his father's sheep
The slaying of Goliath
Being brought into Saul's household and playing a harp there for him to be comforted
Going out into battle and "outdoing" Saul in his accomplishments there
Leaving Saul's palace and pretty much being a vagabond to stay away from Saul so Saul would not kill him
Having two opportunities himself to kill Saul and refusing to do so

ALL OF THAT before he was 30 years old.

Amazing.
